PDS Plus is an antibacterial suture with the same handling properties as PDS II.
PDS Suture is a monofilament synthetic absorbable suture that is indicated for use in all types of soft tissue approximation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular tissue where growth is expected to occur, and ophthalmic surgery.
PDS Suture is not indicated in adult cardiovascular tissue, microsurgery and neural tissue.
These sutures are particularly useful where the combination of an absorbable suture and extended wound support (up to 6 weeks) is desirable.
Typical areas of use include:
• Abdominal wall closure
• Intestinal anastomoses
• Ligament and tendon repair
Tensile strength PDS suture 3-0 and wider:
2 weeks = 80 %
4 weeks = 70 %
6 weeks = 60 %
Tensile strength PDS suture 4-0 and below:
2 weeks = 60 %
4 weeks = 40 %
6 weeks = 35 %
The PDS suture is totally absorbed after 182-238 days.
