Monocryl combines the advantages of a monofilament suture (for example smooth passage through tissue) with a predictable resorption time.
This suture has a low tissue reactivity and maintains high tensile strength
Monocryl - an absorbable suture available in two colours
Monocryl is available in both purple colour and undyed.Tensile strength Monocryl undyed suture:
1 week = 50 - 60 %
2 weeks = 20 - 30 %
3 weeks = 0 %
Tensile strength Monocryl purple suture:
1 week = 60 - 70 %
2 weeks = 30 - 40 %
3 weeks = 0 %
The Monocryl suture is completely absorbed by 91–119 days.
