Antibacterial sutures

Ethicon’s absorbable Plus sutures Vicryl Plus, Monocryl Plus and PDS plus are coated with Triclosan, an antisepticum making the suture antibacterial. Triclosan reduces the risk of Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) by diminishing the bacteria locally in the wound.

The World Health Organization, WHO, recommends the use of antibacterial sutures to prevent surgical related infections.
