Vicryl Plus - antibacterial suture
Vicryl Plus by Ethicon. An antibacterial synthetic, braided, absorbable suture. Vicryl Plus is equivalent to your normal Vicryl absorbable suture with the addition of a coating that enables antibacterial protection (triclosan).
The handling and performance is identical to Vicryl. As with Vicryl, flaking is prevented by a coating that is unique for the Vicryl sutures. This also ensures a smooth tissue passage.
Vicryl is a copolymer made from glycolide and lactide. It is absorbed through hydrolysis.
WHO include triclosan coated sutures in the WHO Global Guidelines for the prevention of Surgical Site Infections.

2 weeks - 75%
3 weeks - 50%

The suture should be completely absorbed within 56 - 70 days.
