Pronova from Ethicon is a synthetic, monofilament, non-absorbable suture made from a polymer blend of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene. The suture is intended for soft tissue closure and ligatures where long-term or permanent support is required.
Smooth monofilament construction
The monofilament construction gives Pronova a smooth, non-porous surface that facilitates easy passage through tissue and minimizes capillary transport. The suture has no surface coating and is available in blue or uncolored versions.
