Monolac – absorbable monofilament suture from Vitrex
Monolac from VITREX—absorbable, monofilament, synthetic suture for those seeking an affordable alternative to Monocryl®.
Monolac from Vitrex is a synthetic, monofilament, and absorbable suture made from a copolymer of glycolide and ε-caprolactone. It is intended for soft tissue closure and ligatures when an absorbable suture with a smooth surface and limited tensile strength duration is desired.
Smooth monofilament construction
The monofilament construction gives Monolac a smooth surface and allows for easy passage through tissue. The absence of braiding reduces the suture’s capillary
transport. Monolac is available in a violet version for general soft tissue closure and an uncolored version, specifically intended for superficial wounds.
Strength and Resorption
Monolac degrades through hydrolysis. Complete resorption occurs after approximately 90–120 days.
