Chirlac – absorbable braided PGA suture from Vitrex
Chirlac from VITREX—absorbable, braided, synthetic suture for those who currently use Vicryl®.
Chirlac from Vitrex is a synthetic, braided, and coated absorbable suture made of polyglycolic acid (PGA). The suture has a medium-strength profile and is intended for soft tissue closure and ligatures in various surgical fields.
Flexible suture with surface coating
The braided construction gives Chirlac good flexibility, handling properties, and knot security. The suture has a resorbable surface coating that reduces friction and the capillary effect and contributes to smooth passage through the tissue.
Strength and Resorption
Chirlac degrades through hydrolysis, and the suture is completely absorbed after 80–90 days.
Residual strength:
14 days – 65–75%21 days – 45–50%
