The spiral-shaped barbs grip the tissue after each pass and hold the suture in place without knots. The design enables continuous suturing and helps distribute tension along the closure. STRATAFIX Spiral MONOCRYL Plus is available in several thread sizes, lengths, and needle combinations for various types of soft tissue closure.
MONOCRYL-based STRATAFIX provides relatively short-term tissue support and is subsequently broken down by hydrolysis. Absorption is normally complete after approximately 90–120 days. The triclosan treatment inhibits bacterial colonization on the surface of the suture but does not replace standard surgical hygiene or customary measures for preventing and treating wound infections.
The suture is intended for soft tissue where an absorbable suture is appropriate. It should not be used for fascia or other tissue requiring long-term mechanical support.
