Absorbable – synthetic – braided suture.Novosyn from B. Braun is a synthetic, braided, and coated absorbable suture made of polyglactin 910. The suture has a medium-strength profile and is used for soft tissue closure and ligatures in general surgery, gynecology, urology, and ophthalmic surgery, among other fields.
Braided and coated design
The braided design gives Novosyn good flexibility and compliance during suturing. The surface coating reduces friction when passing through tissue and facilitates handling and knot placement.
Predictable strength and resorption
21 days – 40–50%.
The suture is completely resorbed after approximately 56–70 days
Degradation occurs through hydrolysis.
