Dafilon – non-absorbable monofilament nylon suture from B. Braun

B. Braun’s Dafilon suture is synthetic, braided, and non-absorbable.

Dafilon from B. Braun is a synthetic, monofilament, non-absorbable polyamide suture. The suture is used for soft tissue closure in procedures such as dermatological and oral surgery. The thinnest sizes are also intended for microsurgery, vascular surgery, and ophthalmic surgery.

Dafilon sutur

Smooth monofilament construction

Dafilon has no surface coating and features a smooth monofilament surface that provides low friction when passing through tissue. This design limits the capillary transport that can occur in braided sutures. Dafilon is available in blue, black, and uncolored versions, depending on the material variant and size.

Non-absorbable with gradual loss of strength

Dafilon is classified as non-absorbable and is suitable for suturing where the suture is to be removed after healing or where long-term support is desired. However, polyamide may gradually lose tensile strength after prolonged use in the body and should therefore not be selected when permanent strength retention is required.
