This article from the journal Svensk Kirurgi, Vol. 68, No. 2, 2010, a research project is described that is being conducted at the Vascular and Thoracic Clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, where the effectiveness of antibacterial sutures in preventing postoperative wound infections is being studied.
Among others, the Vicryl Plus suture from Ethicon is treated with triclosan to serve as one tool among others for reducing the number of bacteria in the surgical wound.
